Κατά τη διάρκεια των ετών λειτουργίας του το ΕΤΕΜ έχει ολοκληρώσει ή εποπτεύσει πολλά ερευνητικά έργα και Ευρωπαϊκά προγράμματα (πάνω από 120). Εκτός από τις πολυάριθμες δημοσιεύσεις σε έγκριτα επιστημονικά περιοδικά, τα μέλη του ΕΤΕΜ και του Πανεπιστημίου Αιγαίου έχουν συμμετάσχει σε έργα τουρισμού που χρηματοδοτούνται από την Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση και άλλους φορείς.
